Who loves a little USA spirit to start the holiday weekend? We sure do! Chelsea, our graphic designer turned Auction Find Redesigner took a slightly beaten pallet and turned it into an awesome decorative American flag.
This American flag pallet is super easy and will look amazing at your 4th of July barbecue this weekend. And it’s not too late, this project will take less than an hour, so you can totally pull it off!
We got this pallet from an electrical auction we did a few weeks ago, and the best part is, it was FREE!! There are a ton of supply houses that have too many pallets then they know what to do with, so ask around because they are easy to come across and make some of the best materials for DIY projects!
To start, make sure all the boards on the pallet are secure. If any need replaced or repaired, or you're just super picky like we are and want the spaces between each board evenly spaced, just pull a board from another pallet and rearrange them. (a little OCD never hurt anyone, right?)
Then, we used a sander to smooth out all the sharp edges.
Spray paint a metal star and place it on the pallet so you can tape off the area to make sure there’s enough room to nail it down when it’s finished.
Use painters tape and place it in the middle of each board. Then paint white and red on each side of the tape. ***Make sure you remove the tape BEFORE the paint completely dries for crisp lines.
If you are keeping your pallet outside, you can spray protective paint on it to keep the colors vibrant.
Attach the white star with two nails and you’re done in time for cocktail hour!
Have an amazing 4th of July!! xoxo
That's a lot of stuff, right? Wait until you see the treasures we're redesigning from this gem of an auction! |
